The government has confirmed its plans to bring the Worker Protection (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) Act 2023 into force on 26 October 2024, introducing a duty for employers to take "reasonable steps" to prevent sexual harassment of employees.
The Act, which received Royal Assent on 26 October 2023, will require employers to take "reasonable steps" to protect employees from sexual harassment in the course of employment. However, the government still intends to strengthen this legal duty to require employers to take "all reasonable steps" to stop sexual harassment before it starts as part of its “Plan to Make Work Pay”.
