Employer pension contributions count towards a weeks pay

Departing from long-standing practice, the Employment Appeal Tribunal has held that employer pension contributions count towards a week’s pay under the Employment Rights Act 1996. The decision increases the value of a week’s pay (for example for the purposes of the calculation of an employee’s statutory redundancy entitlement) subject to applicable statutory caps.
